How to prevent bearing failure?

Time:2022-12-07 17:54:41click:387
Bearing is the core of all rotating equipment, and its state directly affects the operation of the equipment.
There are many reasons for bearing failure. Abnormal conditions such as misalignment, imbalance, looseness and friction sometimes lead to bearing failure. Moreover, bearing failure may cause shutdown and even damage to adjacent components.
However, most of the time, the cause can be found through the performance of the working bearing, and the bearing failure can be prevented from reoccurring after corrective measures.
Driving causes of bearing failure
Higher stress, such as tensile structural stress, short time, heavy load, friction stress, etc
Material strength reduction, such as corrosion, current, mixed friction and sliding
Prevent bearing failure from design
1. Correct bearing selection
2. The size and geometric tolerance of the bearing seat meet the range of recommended values
3. The shaft and bearing seat are within the deformation range
4. Set the correct clearance/preload
5. Verify the dynamic/peak load of the bearing
6. Limit the water content of lubricant
7. Prevent moisture intrusion when stationary
8. Confirm the installation procedure
9. Prevention of overcurrent
10. Limit vibration level
Solutions from bearing materials
1. High residual compressive stress
2. High quality steel
3. Blackening treatment
4. Carbonitriding on the surface
5. High strength stainless steel
6. Hybrid ceramic bearing
